Stille Studio — Klaus Stille — Hamburg, Germany

With so many magazines going digital these days, how and why do you think that printed publications might still survive? “As long as people are concerned about this question, print will never be totally replaced. A digital publication might add some widgets, but it is no replacement. Reading experience and navigation will have to be reconsidered. As we went from the old roll of parchment (scroll) to the form of the book (codex) as we know it today, and back to the scroll again (Tumblr’s endless scrolls), we have only given ourselves more possibilities for random access on a sequential platform.”

Klaus Stille graduated from ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne in 2015. He recently lived in Hong Kong where he worked for the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong. He is now living and working in Hamburg. His focus lies in designing identities, websites, books and posters for cultural institutions, businesses and individuals.
