Swangzhe (Hongfei Liu) — Beijing, China

“Pop is a form of expression for me, an expression that fits my current personal emotions. Although I embrace technology, I am also a person with a relatively slow pace of life. I often look back at things from the past, such as my retro comic-style works. I want to express a love for movies and a love for nostalgia.”

Swangzhe (the Mandarin pronunciation for The Guardian/Observer) is the artist alias for Hongfei Liu, a freelance illustrator, designer, photographer based in Beijing, China. Judging from the sheer amount of movie posters he is churning out, he is a walking dictionary on American comics from the ’90s and a film buff on cult genres.
